My last thirty years was divided into two periods. The first 15 were spent in Denver, Colorado builing four businesses and raising my two sons John and Mark. I lost everything in 1987-89 in the real estate crash and learned the true meaning of leverage when prices go down.
The second period was the last fifteen years here in California. My sons have grown up to be responsible adults both married and paying their own bills. since the dog has died, I guess life has finally begun. My wife of thirty years Cheryl Herrmann and I have fought our way to happiness. I am now treasurer of the small money management firm of Vela, Mehringer, Kargodorian and Sullivan, Inc. in Pasadena, CA. I go to work four days a week and enjoy my work immensely. My two main hobbies are rabid fan for the Padres and Lakers and researching the histories of the great American Presidents. Great is defined as the one's in whom I am interested.
Unfortunately, I can't make the reunion this year because one of my daughters in law is graduating from law school that weekend. My only regret is I didn't father a daughter myself so i take my responsibilities to my new extended family very seriously. See you next time.
