Chip is coming with his wife, Karin: "We were married on 16 August 1980 at St. Paul's Church, Bermuda. It was a real Bemuda wedding, horse and buggies - the reception on the water, everything. She is from the Isle of Wight, England. She comes from an artistic family and her father, Deryck Foster, is one of England's most noteworthy marine artists.
"Karin always loved Army life and accompanied me to all sorts of places - Israel, Germany, Belgium, Fort Leavenworth, Fort Riley etc. Our honeymoon tour which lasted 2 years, 1980 -81, was spent in a one bedroom trailer in the Negev Desert on the construction site of the future Ramon Israeli Air Force Base. (Largest military construction project in the history of the Corps of Engineers). No TV for two years!!!! Actually listened to BBC World Service shortwave radio and enjoyed desert evenings with good conversation. Karin managed the camp mess hall - 5000 meals 4 times per day for all the construction workers. Anyway, we spent two years there until she was evacuated just before Israel invaded Lebanon. It had become too dangerous with tensions running high. Car bombs etc. (Nothing has changed!) On her last day there, I drove her to Ben Gurion in the middle of IDF tank convoys going north. I was very busy getting the base ready for first combat missions over Lebanon. All turned out well in the end.
"We have two children. Katie SPS Class of 2002 and Charles SPS Class of 2005. Katie is a freshman at Bard College and loves it. She spends her vacation as a reporter for the Royal Gazette, Bermuda's biggest newspaper. Charles is an avid hunter and fisherman. He is an outdoors type and loves to ski, boat, motorbike race and play golf.
