Nancy is "happily pursuing my passion for gardening by being a 'garden designer.' This trade, or art, carries no formal credentials so it was easy to become one. I did get about half-way through the Radcliffe Seminars Landscape Design Program, however. Doug always wanted me to get more serious about the business, and this spring I have. My partner and I are as busy as we can manage, helping people design and fine tune their gardens. My other interests are cooking, knitting, photography, oriental rugs and going to antique shows and auctions. Of course I love to read and memoirs and biographies are my favorites.
Nancy & Doug's daughters are "Julia Warren, 20, a sophomore at U. Mass, Amherst where she has yet to declare a major. In high school she was voted 'life of the party.' She has recently discovered that studying is sometimes relfected in the grades one earns. She thinks Doug and I are mean because we never bought her a car. She looks a lot like Doug but hardly ever acts like him.
"Madeleine Warren, 16, is a sophomore at Hopkinton H.S. She is saving up for her car, having learned that cars do not necessarily come to young girls automatically. She is gainfully employed at the Hopkinton Gourmet, but she used to work at a nursing home serving the elderly their meals. Too depressing. She is a very ambitious student and also a cheerleader. She acts a lot like her father. Madeleine is likely to be voted 'best dressed'."
