A quick synopsis of the the twenty-five years up to the twenty-fifth reunion and then onto the last ten years:
Stanford, Columbia, two years at Chemical Bank (including six months in Beirut at the beginning of the civil war), six years at Schroders (including one spent in Australia), ten years at Kidder. Second youngest Managing Director (at the time the title was created) - ran the corporate finanace business for the Asia Pacific region. Was blown up in 1992 along with the entire group.
Married to Alice Baldridge (well known to a number of you) in 1979. Two chidren Bob (1980) and Nina (1983). Like all children they grow up and you sudddenly realize it.
Okay now to the last ten years - Professions held: investment banker (various places including various of my own). These were moderately successful at best. Resident adult at an internet publishing company. Independent consultant - strategic planning and whatnot. Turned around acompany in California. Novelist wannabe - wrote it last year and revised it this spring. Status- currently with agents. I am told by some that it is actually quite good. Running a fund-of funds currently - going well. Most importantly, father and husband.
Son Bob, now almost 23, graduated from Middlebury last week. Varsity tennis, active in the newspaper, ran his house. We'll see what happens next. Daughter Nina, 20, currently living in Gadsden Alabama. Worked at the local museum for the past four months. She matriculated at St. Lawrence, was disappointed, found love in Alabama and seems set to transfer to a college in the South. Perhaps Rhodes or Emory. Is happy.
Alice runs the decorating at Scully & Scully in NY. Erin Gray and Beth Andrews drop in on her from time to time. Currently pulling together a room at the Southampton show house. My niece/goddaughter roomed with Boone Porter's daughter at SPS 5 (?) years ago. I play golf with Dick Furlaud with some frequency. Also greatly enjoyed seeing Tim Belton at the Stanford 30th in October.
Chris - thanks for pulling this together. Looking forward to Friday night. -Walker
